Is there a way to find out when the Cash for Clunkers Program (CARS program) is going to end?
Aside from the program causing an increase prices of used cars, as more fuel efficient cars hit the road, fuel taxes will need to be increased to maintain the roads. Or, a per miles traveled charge will need to be applied.
Will the Cash 4 Clunkers program end up penalizing low income families?
Is the end date for it close by? I'm thinking of trading in my 1995 Nissan Altima, but I don't know if I even qualify.
I know it's a hard to question to answer, but what are some qualifications? I understand that they probably vary by dealership, but are there any generalities? And lastly, are most major dealerships offering Cash for Clunkers, I ask this b/c I'm not sure what the best way of finding out where I should look to trade my car is. Thank you.
End date for "Cash for Clunkers" and what are the stipulations to qualify?
My thoughts are why did the gubment not make sure there were enough people to handle the complete onslaught of rebates?
Why are they just now adding 1100 people to the DOT roles to handle this?
Why didn't they do it before they started?
if a private enterprise operated like this they would be out of business in short order, agreed?

"DOT said earlier this week it was tripling its work force to handle the rebates and expected to have 1,100 workers dealing with the paperwork by the end of the week."
Cash for Clunkers is going to wind down: Thoughts?
I wanted to attend Job Corps back when I was 18 (2005). They wouldn't allow me to attend until I got my juvenile record expunged because I had violent crimes on there. I paid $200 in full for everything because I had to see a judge & whatnot. I never heard from them again, so I just figured everything was taken care of. So recently, I applied for a job working with the Cash For Clunkers program. It's a government program, so obviously they needed to do a background check. I did my fingerprinting for the background check, & a few days later I received a telephone call from the employer asking me to provide disposition papers & a written statement from me, explaining each one of the charges in my own words. I was totally surprised when the lady on the other end then read my charges to me (which, mind you, happened when I was 15). I immediately called the court & asked them why my record was never expunged & they said that my request for expungement wasn't granted because I had subsequent juvenile charges for which I didn't apply for expungement for. Are they supposed to let you know if it was denied? I mean, seriously. I know the court system is f**cked up but Jesus, this is 8 years later thatmy juvenile record is catching up with me. THEN, the employer asked me to get a letter from the court explaining that I was reapplying for an expungement & that it was going to take a few weeks. I spoke to a lady at the court who said that all I needed to do was fax a letter stating exactly what I needed & they would be happy to do it for me. I faxed the letter last Friday (August 14th) to the court & called them today to see what was going on with it. I was then informed by someone else that a letter could not be sent to the employer. I asked to speak to the lady who told me that she would be more then happy to do it & was told that she was on vacation until the end of the month. I then asked to speak to the supervisor of the person I was speaking with & she put me on hold & came back 10 minutes later only to inform me that her supervisor was busy & would have to call me back.
What can I do? I NEED this job. I already have the job, they just need these documents. I'm so frustrated & I'm trying really hard not to give someone at the court house a piece of my mind, because I know that will probably only hurt the situation. Anyone have any suggestions?
Can someone tell me what I need/should do? (repost)?
Would the government fail to pay the providers until the providers called for an end to the program?
Would government run health care work as good as the Cash For Clunkers program?

Shouldn't they tell you if your request for an expungement was denied? (It's long, but please read)?
I graduate college at the end of the year and my last scholarship refund (a whopping 6 grand) will be given to me at the beginning of next year. My husband and I are trying to decide if we should take that and go on a huge kick ass vacation, or if I should use it as a very hefty down payment on a new car. Scenario:
**Vacation: Would be either NYC or Seattle, two weeks, endless possibilities and great memories.
**Car: I currently drive an older SUV and commute 30 miles one way per day to work, would appreciate something newer and more fuel efficient (I can't afford a car payment now or I'd do cash-for-clunkers, but it will be over before I get this).
What are your thoughts?and adding more haha, I don't have student loans or other loans to pay off and I don't have a credit card.to add to what the last guy said, I DO have a job, I signed a contract with the company I have done an internship with (the place I commute to every day).
Should I take the new car or vacation?
I would like to ask those that know the exact day the cash for clunkers end?
My car was rear ended and their insurance company came and took photos. I have hired a lawyer and we are requesting full cash value of the car as the damage exceeds the value of the car. Also have medical bills.
Would it be OK if I were to trade the car in for a new car to take advantage of "Cash 4 Clunkers" before they reimburse us?
Or will there be problems if I do? Like they refusing to pay up?
Can I trade-in my accident damaged vehicle?
ok i have a 2001 chevy s 10 that im pretty sure qualifies for the cash for clunkers program..i meet all the requirements except the title is not in my name..it is in my uncle's name and i know it says to qualify it has to be registered to you for 12 months..when i bought it he was supposed to be the cosigner and somehow he ended up as the buyer...well nevertheless the title i have had for two years now since i paid it off has his name on it..i know i can have it transfered over to my name but if i plan to take advantage of the program the title will only be in my name for like two months.. so is this gona make me not be able to take advantage of the program even though i have proof i have made all 72 payments using my checks with my name or credit card and i have had insurance on the truck in my name for 2 or 2 years. it has been in my possesion and i have been driving it from day 1..any help ? thanks
